Motivation Is Key to Sales

Staying motivated plays a critical role in fueling your sales. But like physical energy, your mental energy (or motivation) can wane because of many different reasons. Here are some tips to help keep your enthusiasm at a fever pitch:

Develop a sense of urgency. Your life can change for the better in a minute, or in a month. If you develop a productive mindset, you'll increase the pace of achieving your business goals. Remember, during your life, you will be exposed to many ideas, information and wisdom, but none of them will come to fruition until you motivate yourself to act on them.

Support people every day. Embrace the power you possess as a mortgage professional. You help make homeownership possible. You have the opportunity to touch every customer you reach and make them a customer for life. As best-selling author and motivational speaker Pat Croce wrote: "Flatter me and I might not believe you. Criticize me and I might not like you. Ignore me and I might not forgive you. Encourage me and I might not forget you."

Be positive even when you're negative. So much of your success is riding on your own expectations. A belief or expectation, whether correct or not, affects the outcome of a situation or the way a person (or group) will behave. Psychologists call it a "self-fulfilling prophecy." Remember, your efforts will match your expectations -- so always expect success.
